CAREER & Business

How happy & fulfilled are you by your work?

How would you like to feel about your career or business?

How an identity shift can lower stress and increase business success

If you were to take a two-week vacation with your family, what would happen to your business while you were gone? Would you spend the whole time on your phone or laptop answering emails and putting out fires? Would your ‘vacation’ cause you more stress because you’re not in the office?

If your business would suffer in your short absence then you are a business operator – not a business owner.

So do you have a business? Are you a business owner or are you stressed all the time? Are you able to be strategic, or are you doing the same things over and over because you’re too busy to innovate and create more effective solutions? Are you able to step back and see the bigger picture?

If not, your new goal is this: become a business owner. Choose to make that shift in both your identity and your business. As Tony said, a business owner is the ultimate strategist. An owner maximises his or her business by leveraging the talented individuals around them. Ensure that you have a team you can trust with this ‘baby’ you have poured so much love and passion into. Otherwise your business will always be limited by what you personally can do each day and you’ll always be stressed.

This doesn’t mean you can’t do the things you love or be a part of the business. By all means, you can still be the operator where it makes sense to be the operator. But allow yourself and your business to thrive by making this necessary shift in your mentality.

Victory is often just one small step away

When you're really focused on what you want but things aren't working, you might start hearing a voice inside your head say, "Nothing's going to work!" But here's the truth: When it looks like you're a million miles away from where you want to be, you're usually only 2 millimetres away from victory!

When things aren't working, one of two things could be the problem: Either your vision isn't focused, clear and compelling – or you have the wrong strategy. All it takes is a little shift in your psychology or strategy in order to maintain momentum and get the result you're after. So whenever you're stuck, or things aren't working, know this: Victory is near!

Motive does matter

Think about the words: work, career, mission. Do you notice a difference when you read them? Does each word feel different to you? To most people, the word “work” implies that it’s something hard, something you have to do. If you work all day long, you probably don’t enjoy it very much or find it very fulfilling. Career implies you’re doing it for something larger; it has a bigger meaning. You’ll devote more energy to it since it’s building towards a greater purpose. But somebody who has a mission, they don’t even do it for the money, they do it because it’s what they’re made for. For them, it’s not work at all; it serves a higher purpose.

Today, most people spend more time at work than they do with their family. The most sacred gift that you can give, besides your love, is your labour. What’s the secret to breaking through in this area? Find something that you’re here to play for that’s more than just yourself. Remember – Motive does matter!

Here’s what Tony has to say:

Find out if you are an artist, a manager, or an entrepreneur

We all get into business to win – but the key to winning in any business is to align with your true nature, because that is how you position yourself for success.

So what kind of business owner are you? Tony explains why you need to find out which natural gift you bring to your business.

Tony explains what really drives our purchase decisions

What kind of car do you own? What kind of purse do you carry? What is your favourite brand of clothing? Why?

While product quality and seller reputation matter, the reason we make a purchase goes far beyond rational thought. Research by the Nielsen Company shows that roughly 90% of purchasing decisions are made subconsciously.

So how does our subconscious determine our decisions?
